How Workshop Wrench subscriptions actually work

Pick a published plan, open a private 14-day trial, invite the floor, then convert in Settings. Shop customer invoices are a different money path — we keep them separate on purpose.

Process

From click to paid tenant

Five steps. No hostage features on the daily board. Stripe stays stub until keys + Customer exist.

  1. 01

    Pick a plan

Starter, Growth, or Scale. Published list prices. Enterprise is a sales conversation, not a self-serve card.

  2. 02

    Create the shop

Owner email + password creates a private tenant. You land in the app as Owner. No shared demo data in your workspace.

  3. 03

    14-day trial

Status is TRIALING. Entitlements follow the plan you picked. Card is not required to open the board.

  4. 04

    Invite the floor

From Team / Settings, add advisor, tech, parts, and accounts roles. Seat limits follow the plan.

  5. 05

    Pay when ready

Settings → Manage subscription. Live Stripe Customer Portal when keys + Customer exist; otherwise an honest stub — never a fake charge.

Money paths

Two invoices. Do not mix them.

SaaS subscription (this product)

Workshop Wrench bills the shop for the software. Invoices and payment methods live on the tenant billing portal. GST treatment follows your Stripe / AU tax settings when live.

Shop customer invoices (not this page)

Repair-order tax invoices and text-to-pay are a different money path. Customers pay you. That Stripe Checkout is not your Wrench subscription.

Annual vs monthly

Annual list prices are ~20% less than 12× monthly. Self-serve signup starts a monthly trial clock; annual conversion is via the billing portal or sales.

Cancel / downgrade

Owner can change plan or cancel from Settings when the live portal is configured. Platform ops can also set PAST_DUE / CANCELLED on the tenant (ops console).

Access

Who can do what after you subscribe

RBAC is role-gated in the shop app. SaaS billing is Owner. Workshop Wrench operators use the separate Ops console — not this login.

GM / AdminShop operations and most settings; billing stays Owner-first

FAQ

Subscription questions

Do I need a credit card to start?
No. Signup creates a 14-day TRIALING tenant. Card collection happens in Settings → Manage subscription when you convert (live Stripe portal) or stays stub in local/demo.
Where do I manage invoices for Workshop Wrench?
Shop owner: App → Settings → Manage subscription. Wrench platform ops: Admin → Billing (tenant MRR / status) and Emails (dunning). Shop customer invoices are under App → Invoices.
Who can change the plan?
The shop Owner from Settings (portal). Workshop Wrench operators can also patch plan + subscriptionStatus on the tenant in Wrench Ops. Staff roles cannot open SaaS billing.
What emails will we send?
Welcome, trial ending, onboarding nudge, and payment-failed (dunning). In development they land in Mailhog (:8025). Production SMTP is configured ops — we do not invent a Connected ESP.

Already subscribed? App → Settings → Manage subscription.

Start the trial. Convert when the board is live.

Most independents start on Growth. Downgrade or upgrade anytime from Settings when billing is live.
